MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Esteban Bovo, Jr. met with President Trump and other federal officials including U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao in the White House on Feb. 12 to discuss the Miami Strategic Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Plan.
Adam Stewart, CEO of Sandals Resorts International and President of the Sandals Foundation, was recently honored with the prestigious Ambassador for the Poor Award by Food for the Poor at the 23rd Annual Building Hope Gala. The award ceremony took place in the Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida on February 3, 2018.

Mr. Stewart, serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Chairman at Sandals Resorts International Limited, and was the recipient of the Ambassador for the Poor 2018 Award presented at the event for his philanthropic efforts through his charitable organization, Sandals Foundation which he created in 2009 to build upon the decades of community involvement and service by Sandals Resorts International. Looking on are Mr. Ronald Schrager and Ms. Wendy Hart Schrager, President of the American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ).

Due to Hurricane Irma the Symposium was postpone.  It has now taken a covenant date during Black History Month. This year’s symposium will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County – Carnival Studio Theater located at 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, FL 33132. Registration will open at 8:00 am.
