EOJ, WASHINGTON D.C. - During my absence from the office over the past week,on urgent personal matters, I was bombarded with queries in relation to media reports regarding a United States Government diplomatic policy request of the Jamaican Government.

Governor Ron DeSantis is running hard on racism. It is the central message of his presidential campaign filled with a hate speech platform patterned after the White supremacy segregationists of the 1950s and 60's. It is a stunning reproduction of the Jim Crow mantra of that era with different labels. But the mission is obvious, and people of color are very clear about what they are looking at. I remember watching a cable news show where a Black woman commented on the DeSantis slogan, “Florida is where Woke goes to die.” She angrily said, “I’m not going back to slavery. Never!”

After marriage, a wife hands over her life to her husband, to be at his beck and call, to please his every whim, to satisfy his every desire, and to make sure that he feels good about himself.

In 2020, President Biden and Vice-President Harris raised over $1 Billion in their presidential campaign in the last election. They have raised the most money in any campaign in the history of any elections. Many Democrats are not aware of this phenomenal achievement, and $700 million was raised online.

A year in which there are only three races for governor’s seats, all in the Deep South, wouldn’t normally create a lot of political speculation. Kentucky’s popular Democratic incumbent may have a tough race, and chalking up Louisiana and its neighbor to the east to a Republican would be typical conventional wisdom.

As a graduate of Howard University, there was very little conversation and discussion about Juneteenth, and it being recognized as freedom day. For 2 centuries slavery defined America, while the first 10 presidents owned slaves, and 4 million Black people were enslaved. The slaves were a key element to the economy, and their labor built the country.

All of us suffered last week through day after day of the hottest average temperatures ever recorded on Earth. Now imagine it had been 10 percent hotter where you live.
