Bobby Floyd Releases Cover for 'Your Love is Amazing'

As a young artist in the late 1960s, Bobby Floyd listened to singers later considered legends of reggae music. Among them were Delroy Wilson and Errol Dunkley.

Bobby FloydRecently, Floyd covered Your Love is Amazing, a song made famous by both artists. His version, released in March, is produced by Clovis Forde.

As much as he admires Wilson and Dunkley, it was important for Floyd to deliver a fresh version of a song that is revered in Jamaica.

“If you listen to Delroy and Errol Dunkley, they did it differently. So, I wanted a different rhythm structure and a different drum intro, and I think it came out well,” he said.

Your Love is Amazing marks a comeback for the veteran vocalist, who gave up on the music business after years of fruitless toil in his native Jamaica and the United States, where he lived for many years.

Floyd has recorded songs for legendary producers such as Joe Gibbs, Niney Holness, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Clement “Coxson” Dodd and Sly and Robbie. The latter produced Love Without Feeling, his best known song, which came out in 1982.

Shortly after, he migrated to the United States where he continued to record while holding a nine-to-five job.

Now a committed member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Bobby Floyd lives in St. Mary parish, Jamaica.
