KINGSTON, Jamaica – Prime Minister Andrew Holness on Thursday announced that Ambassador Audrey Marks has been appointed to the Senate.
This comes on the heels of Marks announcement earlier this week that she would be stepping down as Jamaica’s Ambassador to the US this month.
According to Holness, Marks brings a wealth of experience in diplomacy, business, and public service to her new role.
Marks, is the first female Ambassador to the United States and the only individual to have served in this role three times across two different administrations.
The Prime Minister noted that her extensive experience in strengthening Jamaica/USA bilateral relations and advocating for Jamaica’s interests at the OAS will be invaluable in her new role in national policy and legislative development.
Beyond diplomatic achievements, Marks has a record as an entrepreneur and business leader who founded of Paymaster Jamaica Limited in 1997.
The Prime Minister said he looks forward to her continued contributions to nation building through her service in the senate.
