Dr. Kishore Shallow and Azim Bassarath Re-Elected as CWI President and Vice President

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – Cricket West Indies (CWI) has officially re-elected Dr. Kishore Shallow as President and Azim Bassarath as Vice President following Saturday’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) here at the St. James Club in Antigua and Barbuda.

azinBSAzim Bassarath (left) and Dr. Kishore ShallowBoth leaders ran unopposed and will serve a new three-year term, effective immediately. The vote saw unanimous support from all member territories, with Dr. Shallow securing 12 votes and Bassarath receiving 8 votes from four territories.

This election marks the first under CWI’s newly implemented governance reforms, introducing term limits to promote accountability and sustainable leadership.

Representatives from Barbados, the Leeward Islands, Jamaica, Guyana, the Windward Islands, and Trinidad & Tobago attended the AGM.

Dr. Shallow, a Vincentian IT and business consultant, initially assumed the presidency in 2023 and has since driven significant organizational changes, including governance modernization, high-performance development, and stronger stakeholder engagement.

In his acceptance speech, he thanked the members for their trust and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing West Indies cricket.

“I am deeply honored by the continued confidence in my leadership. This endorsement reflects a shared belief in our vision, one that unites all stakeholders and drives progress. We have laid a strong foundation, and now we must build on it. Together, we will take West Indies cricket to new heights.”

Vice President Bassarath, who also heads the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board, pledged his full support to Dr. Shallow and the CWI board.

“I remain dedicated to collaborating with Dr. Shallow and the entire leadership team as we navigate this new chapter. Our focus will remain on strengthening cricket at every level, for our players, fans, and the wider cricketing community.”
