KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s exciting sprint duo of Gary Card and Sabrina Dockery lead a strong 76-member squad to take part in next month’s 52nd CARIFTA Games in Trinidad and Tobago.
Gary CardCard and Dockery, the fastest schoolboy and schoolgirl on the island respectively, will be favored to win gold in their respective events at the track meet which runs from April 19 to 21.
The 17-year-old Card has a personal best of 10.07 seconds in the 100 meters and will be the favorite to capture that event in the Under-20 boys’ division.
Joining him in the Under-20 boys’ 100m will be Shaquane Gordon, who will also compete in the sprint hurdles alongside Daniel Clarke who clocked a superb 13.06 to win at the CARIFTA Trials.
Card is also set to compete in the 4×100 meters relay.
Much will also be expected of the 18-year-old Dockery, who is set to compete in the Under-20 girls’ 100m, 200m and sprint relay.
Shanoya Douglas will be competing alongside her in both the 100m and 200m.
The Under-17 boys’ group is led by sprint double winner at CARIFTA Trials, Jaydon Collins and also includes talented middle-distance runner Carvel Nooks.
Meanwhile, the Under-17 girls’ squad includes talented sprinter Adora Campbell and distance-runner Kevongaye Fowler.
