Kingston College and Hydel High Triumph in Thrilling Jamaica High School Championships
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Kingston College (KC) and Hydel High School emerged victorious in a gripping conclusion to the ISSA/GraceKennedy Jamaica Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships here at the National Stadium on Saturday, capping off five thrilling days of competition featuring over 2,500 athletes.
Kingston College won their 36th High school track and field championship.KC claimed its 36th title spectacularly, marking a historic milestone as the school celebrated its 100th anniversary. Meanwhile, Hydel High secured only their second girls’ title.
Kingston College dominated the track, particularly in the sprint relays. Their senior boys (16-19) blazed to victory in the 4x100m with a time of 39.78. Inspired by the seniors’ win, the 14-15 quartet followed with a nail-biting 4x100m victory in 40.62.
The girls’ equivalent was just as electrifying, with Hydel 44.55 secs narrowly edging out Edwin Allen in the 17-18 4x100m 44.62.
Both champions closed the championships in style with commanding 4x400m relay wins. Hydel’s girls clocked 3:33.88, while Kingston College’s boys, anchored by Marcinho Rose, stormed home in 3:07.46 to cap off a dominant campaign.

Girls’ Championship: Hydel High – 277 pts, Edwin Allen – 266 pts, Holmwood Technical – 230.5 pts, 4th St. Jago – 149 pts
