LIMA, Peru – Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz completed a 2-0 series sweep of their international friendlies against Peru when they emerged victorious 3-2 in a tightly contested match at the Estadio Miguel Grau here on Wednesday.
Jamaica Women won both of the international friendlies against Peru WomenAfter winning the opening match on Sunday 2-0, Jamaica looked set to thrash the home side after netting three goals in the first half.
Naya Cardoza headed Jamaica into the lead in the sixth minute when she redirected a cross from Siobhan Wilson into the back of the net for her maiden international goal.
Reanna Blades then doubled the lead in the 19th minute before Tiffany Cohen made it 3-0 three minutes later when she capitalised on an error by the Peruvian goalkeeper to tap home from close range.
However, Peru pulled one back in the 35th minute when Birka Ruiz’s finish beat goalkeeper Liya Brooks at the far post.
The home side then had an excellent chance to score again, but Brooks saved a penalty from Geraldine Cisneros in the 45th minute.
Despite the setback, Alondra Vilchez made it 3-2 when she produced a wonderful strike in the 54th minute, turning on the edge of the 18-yard box and firing a half volley past Brooks to set up a thrilling finish to the contest.
