AUSTIN, Texas – Saint Lucia’s teenaged sprinting sensation Naomi London produced an impressive run over the weekend at the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays to set a new national women’s junior record in the 100 meters.
Naomi LondonThe 18-year-old finished second in Heat 2 in a time of 11.23 seconds, to finish fifth overall.
Her time eclipsed the previous record of 11.39 seconds held by Saint Lucia’s track queen and Olympic gold medalist Julien Alfred, which she set in April 2019 at the age of 17 years and 320 days.
With her performance, London, who is also gearing up for the April 19 to 21 CARIFTA Games to be held in Trinidad and Tobago, also clocked the second-fastest time by a female teenager for the year, surpassing the 11.26 run by Brianna Selby of the USA last weekend.
London’s run was just outside the all-time top 100 for Under-20 women.
