Trinidad and Tobago Strikes Gold in Pan American Team Sprint Opener
ASUNCION, Paraguay – Trinidad and Tobago launched their 2025 Elite Pan American Track Cycling Championships campaign spectacularly, capturing gold in the men’s team sprint on the opening day at the National Olympic Velodrome here Wednesday.

In a thrilling final, they dethroned Colombia, who settled for silver, while Mexico secured bronze by defeating hosts Paraguay in the third-place showdown.
TT entered the competition as strong contenders, qualifying second-fastest in 44.087 seconds, just 0.011s behind Colombia’s leading time of 44.076s.
Canada, with a time of 44.719s, completed the top three qualifiers, setting the stage for a fiercely contested battle.
The Caribbean squad showcased their speed and precision in the opening round, blasting past Brazil with a commanding near two-second margin,
They maintained their momentum in the semifinals, dispatching Paraguay with another dominant ride to book their place in the gold medal final.
Despite Colombia’s earlier dominance, TT saved their best performance for last, overpowering the South Americans in the championship decider.
