Antigua's Economy Rebounds With 5.3 Percent Growth in 2021

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – Reporting that the country has bounced back after being battered by the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Gaston Browne on Thursday reported that the economy recorded 5.3 percent growth last year despite the difficult economic circumstances and the reduction in revenues throughout 2020 and 2021.

Antigua Looking to Purchase Bankrupt Hotel

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – The Antigua and Barbuda government says it is seeking to raise US$200 million on the European Stock Market in a bid to acquire the Jolly Beach Hotel, which closed its doors nearly two years ago owing both government and workers millions of dollars in outstanding taxes and severance.

Caribbean Intra-Regional Travel Down By More Than US$1 Billion

MIAMI, Florida – Noting the loss of over US$1 billion in 2021 because of a stagnation in travel between the region’s destinations, the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) recommends a concerted effort by Caribbean government and private sector leaders to boost intra-regional travel, while fostering greater parity, clarity and consistency for travel.

GraceKennedy Launches 100th Anniversary Celebrations

Kingston, Jamaica - The GraceKennedy Group has launched its 100th anniversary celebrations (GK100) with the announcement of a share offer for its over 2000 employees. The announcement of the offer, which is geared at broadening the share ownership of the GraceKennedy (GK) team in the Company, was made by GK Group CEO Don Wehby during the virtual launch of GK100. The launch was streamed live to hundreds of GK employees from around the world on Saturday, January 15, 2022, one month ahead of GraceKennedy’s official 100th anniversary date – February 14, 2022.
