Broward County and School System Announce Results of School Drive

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Public Schools (BCPS), in partnership with Broward County Government, is proud to announce the conclusion of a successful school supply drive to help Bahamian students displaced by Hurricane Dorian in September. Two hundred seventy six children are now enrolled in BCPS to finish out the school year in Broward County. 

David ‘Wagga’ Hunt Foundation Hands out 19 Scholarships Valued at J$1.9m

Kingston/CMM…It was a family affair on Sunday September 29, 2019, when parents and guardians of 19 deserving young men of Kingston College (KC) and Calabar High, gathered in the auditorium of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ), Kingston, for the 11th Annual Awards ceremony of the David “Wagga” Hunt Scholarship Foundation. There was an abundance of pride, smiles and tears as loved ones were presented with scholarships valued at J$100,000.00 each, J$1.9m overall, for the 2019-2020 school year.

St. Thomas University Welcomes Largest Class in its History

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.  – This fall, St. Thomas University will welcome the largest incoming class of traditional students in the school’s history. Last year at this time, 333 new undergraduate students matriculated at the university. As of today, 680 new students will start classes on Monday, August 26th – more than double last year’s new student enrollment. St. Thomas’s total undergraduate enrollment is trending positively with 1220 students this fall as compared to 900 last fall. 

Eric Williams Memorial Collection Sponsors 2019 Regional 'School Bags' Essay Competition

Port of Spain, TRINIDAD and TOBAGO. The Eric Williams Memorial Collection Research Library, Archives & Museum (EWMC) at The University of the West Indies (UWI), Trinidad and Tobago, announces the adjudication of this year’s “Eric Williams ‘School Bags’ Essay Competition.” Judges are: Dr. Rita Pemberton, retired Chair, UWI Department of History; Dr. Andrew O’Shaughnessy, Director, Center for Jefferson Studies, University of Virginia; and Dr. Dexnell Peters, Bennet Boskey Fellow in Atlantic Studies, Oxford University. Dr. Peters was the winner of the 2007 inaugural Essay Competition.
