An Alternate Outlook. Chynee Finds The Secret to Success in Music
Port-of-Spain, Trinidad - An industry isn’t built on emotion; It’s built on intentional action. Macoy- an artiste in Trinidad and Tobago known by many simply as Chynee, has figured it out.
In 2026, after tremendous dedication and admittedly, steady growth, the artiste will unleash his first album. It will be followed up by another, and yet another. His plan is simple - feed the world the music and creativity, and show the top tier, international organizations the dedication that exists in these parts. Presently riding the wave of success with a seasonal Christmas song dubbed, ‘Lopinot,’ the entertainer says he’s made inroads into advertising and merchandizing through purposeful collaboration and community.
Chynee has been a part of the entertainment landscape in the Caribbean for many years. His name reminds many of the Synergy Soca Star competition, which he won in 2009, but these days his ambitions are greater, and his thirst to engage real supporters, is strong. “I have been making an effort to even connect with people from my past and build that strong community, because the aim is to eventually engage with intimate showcases and events,” said the artiste. He says he is tremendously grateful for the opportunities offered by a local comedian and friend who allowed him to share her platform in 2025. “She booked out various locations and her following would come out to the events and listen to the comedy, and I was able to be a part of that. I am so grateful for the opportunities.” As a direct result of that connection, Chynee performed for audiences in Port-of- Spain, San Fernando, Chaguanas and Chaguaramas this year, proving that the cross-pollination of the creative sector can certainly be beneficial to all involved.
While T&T’s carnival is the focus to most at this time, the outlook is broader for Chynee and his team of dedicated creatives. Jamaica’s Busy Signal is one of his favourite artistes and he says his aim is to offer versatility, much like Busy. “The album will feature between 10 and 15 singles and range from Soca to Afrobeat and even reggae and dancehall with the possibility of collaborative singles.”
His Chainlinxx Productions family has supported him over the past seven years, he admits with gratitude, and adds that the inclusion of graphic artiste and producer, Timothy Bootan - a long-time friend, has been a blessing. “My years of experience in music has taught me the importance of a team and access to necessary resources. Added to the people I’ve mentioned, I’ve had the privilege of working with Unique Productions and AKUA Limited for my video production. If our country wants to invest in the creative sector, I think it’s important for creatives to have easier access to resources that aid in music engineering, visuals and even marketing and promotion, at a subsidized cost,” suggested the artiste, adding that harnessing all creative talent and placing resources that can be easily accessed in various districts, would essentially aid in building the sector and in the long term, building Trinidad and Tobago’s creative identity for global recognition and potential investment.
Partnerships and collaborations in music and business, the ultimate cheat code to present-day dynamics, Chynee is eager to push into 2026 with the people who’ve stood with him and supported his music. He is proud of his growth, having turned constructive criticism into favour. “I’ve been growing as an artiste, and I’ve been trying to do better material. I’ve listened to the people around me who encouraged me to really show off my vocal ability, which I’ve been doing and it’s been beneficial.”
This year, Macoy sealed a partnership with Bhagwansingh’s Hardware - a leading hardware in Trinidad and Tobago, having delivered a jingle from his Christmas release, ‘Lopinot’ for the company’s Christmas promotion. “This opens up a lot of opportunities for my music to be heard because the jingle was based off the song. This has really motivated me to push my music in this direction as well, by engaging businesses that are looking for jingles and promotions,” he admitted. Similarly, the artiste has teamed up with Black Hat Designs to promote their inspiring children’s book centred on the concept of paying it forward. Proudly a son of the soil, Macoy fully supports the project’s local roots, noting that the book was designed, written, and printed right here at home. “We also have an upcoming pocket-sized book for adults that focuses on personal reflection, and I’m excited to be a part of that journey as well,” he shared. The collaboration highlights a shared commitment to building community and championing national pride.
Eager to further his brand, and his team’s efforts in music and creativity, Chynee is ready for the year ahead. A Soca track released called, ‘Birds of a Feather,’ encourages the celebration of life and friendship and just like the song says, he happily celebrates those around him who’ve never wavered in their support, knowing that he has always had just what it takes.
