'Give to You' is Sydney Salmon's Latest Song and an Ode to the Ladies
As someone raised in Jamaica during the 1970s roots-reggae revolution, Sydney Salmon knows all the militant anthems from that era. Every now and again, he likes to chill and listen to some romantic ballads.
A singer, Salmon is based in Ethiopia. Give to You, his latest song, is an ode to the ladies. Recently released, it is produced and written by Michael Eaton.
“I do enjoy doing ballads. There are different types of ballads by the way; there are love ballads and message ballads. I prefer doing Inspirational reggae as it applies to praising Jah, which gives me true inner satisfaction,” said Salmon.
Give to You is his latest collaboration with the Staten Island-based Eaton. The rootsy Trees and Oh Lord are the previous songs they worked on.
While he favors message-oriented music, Salmon has recorded romantic ballads such as Feeling You and counts Marcia Griffiths’ optimistic Dreamland among his favorite songs.
A banker by profession, Salmon is a member of the Twelve Tribes of Israel. He lived in the United States for 15 years before settling in Ethiopia in 2001.
Salmon is among 600 Jamaicans who live in the Shashamane region of the East African country. He is chairman of the Jamaican Rastafarian Development Community.
Andromeda: Sign of The Times, his third album, was released last November.
