Rreecey 'Ain't' Playin' Around. 'Foundation' Will Create A Tornado Effect, Hitting Every Upcoming Carnival This Year
Brooklyn, New York - Excitement goes hand in hand with Soca music and just as the thrill of another New York summer climaxes, one of T&T’s rising female artistes is unleashing a new song that’s guaranteed to make waves on the Carnival circuit. Trinidad and Tobago born and bred, Rreecey – still fresh on the Soca scene, but building catalogue and presence, has taken full control of her destiny, steering the trajectory of her career with this particular release that she says has strong international appeal.
Cherreece Bernard’s love for Soca music, T&T and Caribbean culture propels her every move in the music business of which she’s intentionally becoming a strong link. The new track, “Foundation,” was written by Teddy Rhymes, specifically with her in mind. “This song was produced by Captain John and mixed and mastered by Parry Jack. It was recorded by Fojo who was instrumental in directing with vocals,” the young singer shared. For Rreecey, a summer of Soca in 2025 inclusive of a song that has the potential to become an anthem heading into the rest of the calendar year, is a huge accomplishment.
A Power Soca track, the release is strategically timed to coincide with events in New York ahead of Labor Day celebrations and onward into Miami Carnival and certainly, other carnivals feeding the Diaspora. “As an artiste and entertainer, the goal is to provide infectious music for the people. I want my music to be so good, so engaging that the people can’t get enough of what I offer,” said Rreecey. Having been strengthened in the past by one of Calypso music’s most powerful female vocalists, Singing Sandra, Rreecey understands the drive that’s needed to fulfill her career ambitions. “I’ll never forget all that I learnt under Singing Sandra back in 2014. I know exactly what I have to do and I won’t stop until I get where I want to be,” she insisted.
The young artiste has been working dedicatedly over the past three years, delivering songs like, ‘Auto Body,’ ‘Stink and Dutty’ and ‘Pong It.’ She has worked side by side with well-known and respected songwriter, Jason ‘Shaft’ Bishop and her network in the business is steadily expanding. Over the past two years, she has brought her energy to Tobago for the October carnival experience, often releasing her new singles then, with a thrust to marketing toward Trinidad’s Greatest Show on Earth. The Belmont born singer’s ambitious nature and love for the music of her homeland, are motivation enough, and she knows that with consistency, reward will come.
The Soca music business, sometimes a tumultuous and unpredictable one, Rrreecey says she is keeping her eyes straight ahead, ignoring the noise and focusing on her journey. “Everyone’s experience will differ. So far, I’ve seen my growth and I know that with persistence, I will make it to the top.”
