Speaking during an assessment visit in Region Three on Saturday morning, President Ali said rainfall levels in recent days have been unusually high, leading to overtopping of drains and flooding in low-lying communities.
He said teams have been dispatched nationwide to assess damage, identify urgent interventions and ensure drainage systems remain operational.
“We are seeing very high and unusual rainfall patterns across the country, and as a government, we are on the ground ensuring that every agency is working together to bring relief and support to residents,” President Ali said.
The president said additional pumps and equipment were being deployed where necessary to speed up the removal of floodwaters.
Cabinet ministers have also been assigned to different regions to engage residents directly and coordinate relief efforts with local authorities.
President Ali said the government remains on full alert and will continue to monitor weather conditions and water levels closely as the situation develops.
Public infrastructure agencies, he added, are working around the clock to clear drainage channels, operate pumps and address critical flooding points.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and follow official advisories while reporting areas in need of urgent attention.
“We will continue to be present in the communities, assess the situation firsthand, and ensure that all necessary resources are deployed to safeguard lives and livelihoods,” he said.
