In celebration of Women’s History Month, Wynwood’s Art of Hip Hop is slated to honor three staples of Miami’s airwaves, Lucy Lopez, Stichiz, and Supa Cindy, for their contributions to Miami’s music and Hip Hop culture. An awards ceremony, led by Da-Venya Armstrong, Founder and CEO of Armstrong Creative Consulting, will take place whereby the women will be presented with original works of art by 3 leading local female artists Tierra Armstrong, Nico, and Didi Contreras. Following the ceremony will be a discussion with the women of our airwaves, focusing on their journeys to the top of male-dominated media industry.

Miami, FL– In a heartwarming display of support, Make-A-Wish Southern Florida recently fulfilled the wish of Fernandye Eugene, a future business major at Miami Dade College (MDC), by providing her with $10,000 in tuition assistance. Eugene was presented with a check at a ceremony yesterday at MDC’s North Campus.

MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County is receiving a $13.5 million grant for Biscayne Bay Water Quality Improvement Program projects, following an announcement by Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). The funding will support transformative stormwater and wastewater management practices by the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources’ (RER) Division of Environmental Resources Management’s (DERM), innovative approaches undertaken by the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) to extend the sanitary sewer system to convert properties currently not connected to the sewer system, as well as essential nutrient pollution reducing drainage projects overseen by the Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW).

Since 2008, Project UP-START has been helping students’ families living in unstable housing situations find a safe place to live and do homework in order to succeed in the classroom. But the program goes beyond helping with housing by offering families help with food, clothing and school supplies and transportation to school, as well as tutoring for these students in order to improve their academic achievement.

Seventy percent of Americans have no CPR training, a basic life-saving skill that could save the life of a loved one who has just suffered a heart attack or a stroke.  In recognition of the need for this crucial training, this past Saturday Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) and Jackson Health Systems hosted CPR Day Miami at 10 District schools, where more than 1,000 participants, 11 years old and up were trained on how to save a life in case of a cardiac emergency.
