The ministry said that in pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery or life-threatening infection of the newborn and that “serious and sometimes fatal infections in older adults and persons with weakened immune systems”.
The recall issued by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and a statement from the Ministry of Health here said that the products being recalled were manufactured between April 24, 2025, through June 11 this year by US-based Kraft Heinz Foods Company.
It said that the “Oscar Mayer Turkey BACON ORIGINAL” is approved for sale in Trinidad and Tobago and “out of abundance of caution,” the ministry is advising persons who may have the product in their possession “to discontinue use immediately and to return to the place of purchase, where possible”.
