Bajan Jockey Chris Husbands Set For Triumphant Return After Injury
TORONTO, Canada – After a grueling recovery from a career-threatening injury, champion jockey Chris Husbands is ready to make his long-awaited return to the saddle.
The Barbadian rider, who suffered a broken pelvis in a terrifying training accident last July, will make his 2025 debut this Sunday, May 25, at Woodbine Racetrack, followed by a ride at Fort Erie on Tuesday.
Husband’s injury occurred on July 9, 2024, when a horse flipped over on him during a training session at Woodbine. The incident sidelined the accomplished jockey for nearly a year, but his determination and resilience have now paved the way for his comeback.
A dominant force in Canadian racing, Husbands first made his mark on the western circuit before relocating to Ontario nearly nine years ago.
With 645 career victories to his name, including multiple Stakes wins, he has solidified his reputation as one of the region’s top riders.
His dominance at Fort Erie has been particularly notable, as he clinched the riding title for three consecutive seasons prior to his injury.
