FPL - NEE - Girl Scouts

FPL partnered with Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida to offer the annual workshop as a virtual learning experience amid the COVID-19 pandemic. OPA-LOCKA, Fl. — The City of Opa-locka and Feeding South Florida continue their active roles in providing support to the City of Opa-Locka community through drive-thru food distributions. The City of Opa-locka and Feeding South Florida hosted a drive-thru food distribution today, Tuesday, June 29, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sherbondy Park Pavilion, 777 Sharazard Boulevard, Opa-locka. 

Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department Hosts Drive-Thru Pet Food Bank to Help Pet Owners Feed Their Furry Family Members

MIAMI —To help provide relief for Miami-Dade County’s pet owners and help them feed their furry family members during the COVID-19 pandemic, Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department will host its sixth Drive-Thru Pet Food Bank on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. (or while supplies last), at Larry & Penny Thompson Park, located at 12451 SW 184th Street, Miami, FL, 33177. The dog and cat food distribution is made possible through a grant from the Petco Foundation as part of their Pledge to Save Pet Lives during the COVID-19 crisis.

Commissioner Monestime Urges Trump Administration to Extend Visas for International Students

MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jean Monestime will be sponsoring a resolution urging the Trump administration to reverse its recent decision requiring foreign students who are pursuing degrees in the United States to leave the country or risk deportation if their universities switch to online-only courses. Immigration and Customs Enforcement also announced it won’t issue visas to foreign students whose classes are fully online. The announcement came as many colleges and universities have switched to online-only courses due to the coronavirus.
