Miami-Dade County Promises Relief to Bahamas Following Hurricane Dorian

MIAMI – County Commission Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson joined Mayor Carlos Gimenez and her colleagues at a press conference and meeting with Linda Mackey, Consul-General of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, on Sept. 3 to coordinate relief efforts from Miami-Dade County and appeal to residents for donations to help the storm-battered island nation recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Dorian.

County Continues to Monitor Hurricane Dorian

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activated at 9AM this morning, Friday, August 30, in response to Hurricane Dorian. All of Florida is under a state of emergency declared by Governor Ron DeSantis. Broward County will declare a local state of emergency Friday afternoon.

Miramar Police Department Get Body Cameras

Miramar, FL On March 27, 2019 the Commissioner Alexandra P.  Davis made a motion to implement a body-worn camera program for the Miramar Police Department (the “Department’). The motioned was seconded and a majority vote led to the long-awaited body camera program becoming law in the City of Miramar. The body camera program was first proposed by Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis back in 2014, with petitions being signed subsequent to this, but though a study was conducted the program never came to fruition.
