Chairwoman Edmonson Doubles Reward for Tip Leading to Arrest in Drive-by Shooting of 7-Year-Old Girl, Toddler and Family

MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Commission Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson will match Miami-Dade Police and Crime Stoppers’ $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators of Saturday’s drive-by shooting in Brownsville that killed 7-year-old Alana Washington and also wounded 2-year-old Alto Jacobs III, along with a man and a woman. The match brings the total reward to $10,000.

Commissioner Jordan Hosts Building Dedication in Honor of MDPD First Black Director

MIAMI GARDENS – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Barbara Jordan on July 20 hosted a public dedication and renaming ceremony for the newly renamed Director Robert “Bobby” L. Parker, Sr. Professional Compliance Bureau Building in Miami Gardens. Commissioner Jordan sponsored the resolution renaming the building, which is located at 18805 NW 27th Avenue and was formerly known as the Miami-Dade Police Department Professional Compliance Bureau Building.

City of Opa-Locka Mayor Matthew Pigatt & the City Commission Led a Massive Effort and Handed Out More Than 30,000 Face Masks in Opa-Locka

(OPA-LOCKA, Fl.) — The City of Opa-locka Mayor Matthew Pigatt and the City Commission have asked residents to join in on the fight against COVID-19. Mayor Pigatt and the City Commission hosted a #MaskUpOpalocka Mask Distribution last Saturday, July 18, 2020. They caravaned throughout the City of Opa-locka and distributed masks, hand sanitizer, and answered questions related to COVID-19.

New York, NY - GraceKennedy (GK) Foods USA is this week, winding down its eight week “With Love from Grace” Appreciation Food Truck Tour, which has seen the company delivering hot lunches to some 2,000 essential workers over some 30 stops in New York and Florida since June.  The program was launched out of GK Foods’ acknowledgement of the vital role of grocery store workers in sustainable food supply. Face masks have also been distributed during the eight-week initiative.
