GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands — Premier André Ebanks has traveled to the United States this week for a series of high-level meetings aimed at strengthening the Cayman Islands’ international partnerships and promoting its financial services sector.
According to a statement from the Office of the Premier, Ebanks is holding discussions in Washington, D.C., with senior officials from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, members of Congress, congressional staff, and representatives of key industry organizations.
The meetings are focused on issues affecting the Cayman Islands’ financial services industry, including international tax policy, financial regulation, cross-border investment, capital markets, private investment, and the broader economic relationship between the Cayman Islands and the United States.
During his visit to the U.S. capital, the premier is also scheduled to meet with leaders from a range of financial services organizations to discuss developments impacting the sector.
Following his engagements in Washington, Ebanks will travel to Chicago, where he is expected to meet with government officials, industry leaders, and professional services stakeholders.
His schedule includes a Cayman Finance briefing and panel discussion, meetings with major professional services firms, consultations with Illinois government and insurance representatives, and participation in industry events hosted by Cayman Islands financial services partners.
The visit forms part of the Cayman Islands Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international relationships, reinforce the jurisdiction’s standing as a leading global financial centre, and highlight the country’s robust regulatory framework and diverse financial services offerings in key international markets.
While Premier Ebanks is away, Deputy Premier Gary Rutty will serve as Acting Premier.
