E-Dee Releases New Song 'Pretty Girl' in December

After years of recording dancehall-reggae songs, E-Dee goes for a change of pace with Pretty Girl, on which he shows his rapping skills.

Given his passion for hip hop, and the friendships he has within that genre, it seemed natural that he finally recorded a song reflecting those ties.

“I have a large hip hop fan base in the United States, and I’ve collaborated with major rappers like Jim Jones, Cam’ron, and Cassidy. I’ve also been blending hip hop and dancehall beats for years, and I’ve previously released two hip-hop mixtape mash-ups in a similar style,” E-Dee said. “This track is a natural extension of that approach to connect with even more listeners.”

Pretty Girl is different in sound and mood to We A Rebuild, his previous song. That reggae track, also done for Clarendon Records, was inspired by the destruction caused by Hurricane Melissa which struck Jamaica on October 28.

Clarendon Records is named after Clarendon, the sugar-belt parish in central Jamaica where E-Dee is from. He has released over 20 songs, an EP and compilation album since launching the label two years ago.

“Running my own label gives me complete creative and business control. I own my masters outright, and in the long run, it allows me to keep a much larger share of the revenue,” he said.

E-Dee is a longtime resident of Los Angeles. He is also an actor who has appeared in movies such as Out The Gate and Temperature Rising.
