New Reggae Band Mesh Marina Blends Jamaican Sound With Modern Synth

There is a new reggae band in town and they are called Mesh Marina. Led by 20-year-old singer Shennell, the band also comprises Curley (keyboards), Jeremy (bass), Xavier (guitar), Shawn (drums), Pierre (keyboards) and Kierra (harmonies).

Veteran music producer Mario C is the main driving force behind the seven-piece outfit.

“Mesh Marina delivers modern commercial reggae that blends authentic Jamaican roots with pop, hip-hop and Afrobeats influences, creating radio-friendly songs designed for both global streaming and powerful live band performances,” he said..

Mesh Marina formed in May, 2025. The band blends classic reggae rhythms with modern synth textures aimed at appealing to a broad audience. 

Their debut single, Joke Dem A Joke, generated more than 3 million organic views within its first month of release last year. 

The band has since built a  digital presence, surpassing 100,000 Instagram followers. They have a strong TikTok audience, and generates hundreds of thousands of YouTube views. 

Their music has also been supported by IRIE FM, Jamaica’s only all-reggae radio station.

Mesh Marina is currently working on its first album which is scheduled for release in April.
