New Song 'Oxygen' is a Collaboration Between Deejays Gothic and Teebone

While in Panama last June, Gothic and Teebone thought it would be a good idea to record a song together. After their brainstorming got the green light from Gothic’s manager, the deejays hit the recording studio when they returned to their native Jamaica.

gothicinThe result is Oxygen, a song produced by Grabba Taylor Ent. It was released on October 15.

It hears two of Montego Bay’s hottest artists in tandem for the first time.

“I’m pleased with how Oxygen came out because as you know that’s Teebone and he’s a very well-known artist, and I knew him for a very long time before music as well,” said Gothic. “It was very easy for us because we were both in the studio at the time, and both of us have a high energy. I understood the assignment and got it done.”

Gothic and Teebone were in Panama for promotional reasons. The Central American country has been a stomping ground for Gothic in recent months, thanks to enthusiastic response to some of his songs including Rodando En La City and Braff which were done with local reggaeton acts.

Those songs — marketed by Empress Ann Recordz, Gothic’s management — were geared toward him building a fan base in Panama, one of the birthplaces of reggaeton which also has a strong dancehall following.

Gothic believes Oxygen has broad appeal.

“I won’t say I’m looking for a particular audience, because I would love for everyone to listen and vibe to it. Based on the creativity of the song and the vibe, I would say it’s more for the streets, parties, dancers and the younger audience,” he said.
