GEORGETOWN, Guyana – Head coach of the Guyana Amazon Warriors Prasanna Agoram strongly believes his side is good enough to repeat as champions of the ExxonMobil Guyana Super League (GSL).
The Guyana Amazon Warriors are the defending GSL champions. The Amazon Warriors lifted their first-ever GSL title last year by defeating Rangpur Riders by 32 runs in the final at Providence Stadium.
Agoram said the defending champions will be going all out to repeat at the 2026 tournament, which runs from July 23 to August 1 and guarantees the winners US$1 million.
“I’m pretty sure this team has all the goods to go on and win the title.
“I’m never someone who’s going to take the reference of defending champions because we want to win the title again, and I want people to make the outside noise that Guyana has defended the title because we are coming there with so much seriousness,” Agoram said.
“We need to give the happiness to the fans, and we will do everything to see that we win the title.”
However, he admitted it would not be an easy task, with Pakistan Super League champions Lahore Qalandars, UAE-based Desert Vipers, Australian Big Bash League winners Perth Scorchers XI, and Major League Cricket San Francisco Unicorns all set to compete.
“What we have to make sure of is that we match the other four teams where they’re expected to have a lot of younger, talented, skilled players to showcase their talents in front of the world by performing for GSL,” Agoram maintained.
