GABORONE, Botswana – For the second time in as many days Jamaica’s mixed 4x100m relay team set a world record at the Debswana World Athletics Relays on their way to winning gold in the event here on Sunday.
Jamaica finished comfortably ahead of Canada, who grabbed silver in 40.23 second, while the USA was third in 40.33.The quartet of Ackeem Blake, Tina Clayton, Kadrian Goldson and Tia Clayton blazed across the finish line in 39.62 seconds, besting the world record of 39.99 seconds, which they set on Saturday’s opening day.

The top six teams automatically secured their spots for the Ultimate Championship – Jamaica, Canada and USA joined by Germany, Spain and Nigeria – while all the finalists had already qualified for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 27 by safely advancing from the heats.
