KINGSTON, Jamaica – World 100 metres champion Oblique Seville opened his season in winning fashion by winning the men’s event in convincing fashion at the third JAAA/Puma meet at the National Stadium here on Saturday.
Oblique SevilleCompeting in the 21st heat, Seville stormed to victory in 9.96 seconds, finishing well ahead of Sandrey Davison (10.22 seconds) and Adrian Kerr (10.28 seconds).
Fellow Jamaican Bouwahjgie Nkrumie, who won the penultimate heat in a season’s best 10.13 seconds, placed second overall.
In the women’s equivalent, Ashanti Moore copped gold in a time of 11.18 seconds. She finished ahead of World Relays gold medalist Jodean Williams, who clocked 11.22 seconds and national junior record holder Alana Reid, who was timed at 11.31 seconds.
In other results, Tajh Marques White won the men’s 400m in 45.91 seconds, ahead of Kingston College schoolboy Jason Pitter (46.40 seconds) and Reheem Hayles (46.42 seconds).
Samantha Hall was victorious in the women’s discus throw with an effort measured at 60.07 metres and World Indoor Championships medalist Lushane Wilson won the men’s high jump with a leap of 2.16 metres.
