Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz will carry the Caribbean’s hopes for global soccer glory when they make a historic berth at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, set to kick off this month in France. 

Pumped and ready for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France 7 June-7 July, Jamaica’s women’s football squad, known affectionately as the Reggae  Girlz, were welcomed to the  City of Miramar, Florida by the city’s Vice Mayor Alexandra Davis, Consul General of Jamaica to Miami, Oliver Mair, along with Reggae Girlz Foundation President Michelle Adamolekum.

CARY, N.C. – The NC Courage had to come back from an early deficit to draw 1-1 with Utah Royals FC on Sunday afternoon at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park. Elizabeth Eddy scored late in the game after the Courage went down early with a goal by Amy Rodriguez.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today hosted the Monarch High School football team at their Organized Team Activity (OTA) practice. The team was given a tour of the Baptist Health Training Facility at Nova Southeastern University and heard from Miami Dolphins Youth Programs Ambassador and alum Twan Russell about overcoming adversity. The Monarch football team also had the opportunity to watch the Dolphins practice and meet with current players on the field.

CHICAGO – Kristen Hamilton has been voted NWSL Player of the Week for Week 8 of the 2019 season by the NWSL Media Association.  Hamilton scored in the 59th, 66th and 85th minute, seeing action in all 90 minutes for the first time this season.  The goals also marked her first of the season, and a career-first hat trick, ending a four-game winless streak for the Courage.

Montclair, N.J. – North Carolina FC persevered in a 2-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls II on Friday night at MSU Soccer Park. After taking a 2-0 lead into halftime, NCFC went down to 10 men and conceded a goal in the second half, but eventually held on for the win.

South Florida-based sprinter Briana Williams was among the stars that helped Jamaica to again dominate the Carifta Games held last month in the Cayman Islands. Williams, a student at Oakland Park Northeast high school who is coached by former Trinidad and Tobago sprint great Ato Boldon, won the 100 and 200 meters in the girls Under-20. She won the 100 in 11.25 seconds and the 200 in a world leading age group time of 22.89.
