PARAMARIBO, Suriname – Surinam Airways (SLM) says it will be suspending its regular twice-weekly flights into Barbados from April 19 this year for operational and commercial reasons.
The airline, which operated the weekly flights on a Sunday and Wednesday, said that this adjustment forms part of its ongoing route network optimisation strategy, aimed at aligning capacity and flight frequencies with current market demand and operational efficiency.
“Barbados will remain an important destination within the Surinam Airways network and will continue to be served on a seasonal basis and/or in connection with specific annual events,” it said, noting that seasonal operations are scheduled to resume for the period July 1, 2026 through January 15, 2027.
The airline said as a result it is cancelling flights from April 19 through May 10 this year, May 17 and May 24 through to June 28, 2026
“Flights PY331/332 on 13 May and 20 May 2026 will remain available for sale and will operate in accordance with the regular flight schedule,” SLM said, adding that “passengers holding bookings for travel after 19 April 2026 will be informed in a timely manner by Surinam Airways or through their travel agent regarding the available options, including possible rebooking or refunds, in accordance with the applicable terms and conditions.
