The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an agency of the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport is pleased to announce the results from the Grand Final of the Jamaica Gospel Song Competition, held on Sunday, August 4 at the National Arena:

Pompano Beach Cultural Center Presents: "For Colored Girls...

The Pompano Beach Cultural Center is proud to present a staged play reading of the Tony-nominated For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/ When the Rainbow Is Enuf. This remarkable play, written by Ntozake Shange, takes place in Harlem in the early 1970s. The play made its Broadway debut in 1976 and has been adapted into a book, a television film and a theatrical film. The reading, followed by a talk-back, takes place Saturday, August 31 at 3pm. Tickets are $10 and are available at www.ccpompano.org.       

The Jamaican Folk Singers for Miss Lou Full 100

Miami, FL - Music lovers in South Florida are in for a very special experience - theJamaican Folk Singers are coming to South Florida. They will give two concerts only, one in Palm Beach on Friday September 6, the other in Coral Springs on Saturday September 7. The Miss Lou Full 100 concerts are presented by the Louise Bennett Heritage Council, as part of their homage to the late Louise Bennett-Coverley – Miss Lou- Jamaica’s beloved cultural icon, in this her centenary year.

NY: Celebrated Reggae Queen Marcia Griffiths and legendary reggae/gospel singer Judy Mowatt, two thirds of the world famous I-Threes, reggae's most influential female singing group that provided backing vocals for the honorable Robert Nesta Marley (Bob Marley) in the 70's will reunite for one performance only at the inaugural Westchester Reggae Festival, slated to take place on Labour Day Saturday, August 31 at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York.
