Voting Rights Organizations Resolve to Protect Florida Voters as State Continues History of Voter Suppression

TALLAHASSEE, Fla – On Friday, October 9, a coalition of voting rights organizations reacted to a court’s decision not to extend Florida’s voter registration deadline after the state’s online registration system crashed on Monday. The lawsuit, filed by Advancement Project National Office, Demos, LatinoJustice PRLDEF, and Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer on behalf of the Dream Defenders, New Florida Majority, Organize Florida, and the Florida Immigrant Coalition asserted that thousands of Floridians had been disenfranchised by the system’s technical difficulties on the last day of voter registration. The Plaintiffs also asserted that Florida’s midday extension of the registration deadline on Tuesday was insufficient to notify all Floridians who were unable to register because of the system’s failure. The Plaintiffs released the following statement.

Biden for President Senior Advisor Karine Jean-Pierre Interviewed With Several Prominent Haitian Radio Programs in South Florida

On Wednesday, Biden for President Senior Advisor and Chief of Staff to Senator Kamala Harris Karine Jean-Pierre participated in several interviews with prominent Haitian radio programs in Miami-Dade, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Broward counties. Jean-Pierre, the campaign's highest ranking Haitian-American staffer, addressed key issues to the Haitian community, including Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ COVID-19 recovery plans, legislative immigration reform, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and family reunification. 

Miami-Dade Democrats Call on County to Expand Voting Opportunities

MIAMI-DADE, FL: The Miami-Dade Democratic Party unanimously passed a resolution at its General Body meeting on September 15th calling on Miami-Dade County to dramatically expand voting opportunities. The resolution was sponsored by the Miami-Dade Democratic Party’s General Counsel, Marc Burton.

Moss, candidate for District 9 School Board seat released the following statement regarding the emergency complaint filed against Luisa Santos in the Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in Miami-Dade County.  The complaint requests a temporary injunction on Luisa Santos as a candidate for District 9 School Board.  It is alleged that Santos is not a resident of the district.
